The FemtoFErb 1560 is a compact femtosecond erbium fiber laser from TOPTICA Photonics AG, delivering ultrashort pulses at a center wavelength of 1560nm through a fiber-coupled FC/APC output. Housed in a rugged 202x132x68mm enclosure, it integrates a USB control interface, SMA and 9-pin D-Sub connectors for synchronization, and intuitive front-panel status LEDs (Power on, Temperature ok, Laser on, Module error, Clip error). The laser is built on TOPTICA's femtosecond fiber laser technology jointly developed with the University of Konstanz, a collaboration honored with the 2023 Technology Transfer Prize of the German Physical Society (DPG) for the development and transfer of passively phase-locked frequency combs. This technological breakthrough, implemented in TOPTICA's Difference Frequency Comb (DFC) products since 2016, achieves free-running linewidths below 5kHz across the entire frequency span from the radio frequency range up into the optical regime, making the FemtoFErb 1560 an ideal seed source for optical frequency combs, quantum technology, biophotonics, and test & measurement applications.
