Germanium Window
In the 2-12μm range, germanium is the most commonly used material for making optical lenses and optical windows in efficient infrared imaging systems. Germanium has the characteristics of a high refractive index (approximately 4.0 in the 2-14 μm band), minimal surface curvature, and small chromatic aberration. In low-power imaging systems, there is usually no need to modify the characteristics of the germanium window. The shape and specification of the germanium window are customizable. The diameter can be customized for infrared applications in the 2 - 16 µm spectral range. Versions 1.9 - 6 µ are available without coating or with one of two anti-reflection coatings
