BK7 Hemispherical Lens
An optical dome is a lens element with two concentric spherical surfaces. Common materials include K9 glass, fused silica, ZnS and ZnSe, with parallelism tolerance controlled within 2μm. Typical shapes are hemispherical or hyperhemispherical. Widely used in detectors, optical sensors, underwater photography and security monitoring, domes protect internal optics, provide a wide-angle light-entry window and optimize optical transmission.
