The transmit signal of a continuous-wave radar can be a single-frequency continuous wave (CW) or a frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW). There are also various frequency modulation methods, commonly including triangular wave, sawtooth wave, coded modulation or noise frequency modulation, etc. Single-frequency continuous-wave radar can only be used for velocity measurement and cannot measure distance, whereas FMCW radar can measure both distance and velocity, and its advantages in short-range measurement are becoming increasingly evident.

Clearance LiDAR emits electromagnetic waves or laser beams and uses echo signals to analyze target distance and velocity information. The radar adopts time-of-flight (TOF) technology and emits millimeter-wave signals with a linearly varying frequency. When a blade enters the monitoring area, a frequency difference is generated between the echo signal and the transmit signal, and the distance and velocity can be precisely resolved through Fourier transform.
