Yttrium Vanadate
Yttrium vanadate (YVO4) is an excellent birefringent crystal material and a positive uniaxial crystal. The crystal has good physical and mechanical properties, a wide transmission range, high transmittance, a large birefringence coefficient, and is easy to process. YVO4 crystals can replace calcite and ruby in fiber-optic communication applications, and are key materials in passive optical communication devices such as optical isolators, circulators, polarizing beamsplitters and polarizers.
