This is a family of precision-machined optomechanical mounting blocks used to fix and align miniature fiber optic components such as collimators, fiber arrays and ferrules. The blocks are made of aluminum alloy with a black anodized finish to suppress stray-light reflection and improve wear resistance. The series includes several configurations: blocks with circular counterbored holes and top set screws for locking cylindrical collimator tubes, blocks with rectangular slots, and blocks fitted with square metal sleeves (stainless steel / nickel-plated) for receiving MT-type ferrules or fiber array endcaps. The flat square base provides a stable reference surface for adhesive bonding or screw mounting onto optical sub-assemblies, making these blocks ideal for compact photonic module packaging.

The IPD is very compact and can be easily mounted on a PCB for system use. It delivers excellent optical properties, including a broad wavelength range covering the C- and L-band, low insertion loss, and high sensitivity. By integrating the tap and the photodetector into a single device, the IPD eliminates the need for a separate optical fiber coupler/splitter and photodetector, providing a simple, low-cost solution for optical power monitoring in DWDM and switching systems. Santec's Unidirectional Tap-Integrated Photo Detector is especially useful for amplifier systems.
