LBO Electro-optic crystal
LBO, or lithium triborate with formula LiB₃O₅, is an electro-optic crystal material with excellent nonlinear properties. It offers a broad transmission range, high nonlinear coupling, high frequency-doubling efficiency, a high laser-damage threshold, broad acceptance angles, low walk-off and good chemical and machining properties. It is widely used for second- and third-harmonic generation and OPO in all-solid-state laser, electro-optic, medical and micromachining applications. Second-harmonic applications include medical and industrial Nd:YAG lasers, high-power Nd:YAG and Nd:YLF lasers for research and military use, and pumping Na:YVo4, Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, ruby, Ti:Sappire and Cr:LiSAF lasers. Third-harmonic applications include Nd:YAG and Nd:YLF lasers, optical parametric amplifiers (OPA), optical parametric oscillators (OPO), and second- and third-harmonic generation of high-power 134Onm Nd:YAP lasers. LBO can frequency-double medium- and high-power 1064nm lasers to 532nm green output, frequency-triple 1064nm lasers to 355nm ultraviolet output, and serve OPO systems.
