KTP Electro-optic crystal
KTP, or potassium titanyl phosphate, offers excellent nonlinear and electro-optic properties. Its high electro-optic coefficient and low dielectric constant support high-frequency operation and electro-optic Q-switching. It also offers strong frequency-doubling performance, with a large nonlinear coefficient, no walk-off, a high optical-damage threshold and little temperature dependence of phase matching. It is used for 1064-532nm frequency doubling in medium- and low-power Nd:YAG and Nd:YVO₄ lasers. High nonlinearity, mechanical stability, optical quality and transparency from 350 nm–4500nm support its broad use as a nonlinear medium. It is particularly useful for intracavity and extracavity frequency doubling of medium- and low-power neodymium lasers. Applications also include SHG for green/red output from Nd-doped lasers and sum-frequency mixing (SFM) for blue output from Nd lasers and diode lasers.
