V:YAG
Our V³⁺:YAG crystal, or vanadium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet with formula V³⁺:Y₃Al₅O₁₂, is a laser saturable absorber and passive Q-switch crystal with good overall performance. It is widely used in laser plotters, laser rangefinders and laser cutting machines. Passive Q-switched solid-state lasers offer good stability, long service life, compact size and practical simplicity. Vanadium has four valence states: +2, +3, +4 and +5. The +3 valence state of V³⁺ is commonly used for Q-switching and saturable absorption, with ions doped into YAG hosts to achieve passive Q-switching and laser mode locking. V:YAG is a new material for laser saturable absorbers and passive Q-switches in the 1.06μm-1.44μm range, particularly for neodymium lasers at 1.3μm, and is an excellent saturable absorber in the 1300nm band.
