BaGa₂GeSe₆
BaGa₂GeSe₆ (barium gallium germanium selenide), abbreviated BGGSe, is a trigonal crystal in space group R3. It has a high laser damage threshold, a broad transmission range (0.5~18μm), moderate birefringence (0.08~0.11), a large nonlinear coefficient (d₁₁=23.6pm/V), and stable chemical properties. It requires neither cumbersome post-processing such as annealing nor post-growth treatment, has high surface chemical stability and crystal symmetry, and is easy to process. It can be pumped by Nd:YAG lasers and has important potential for infrared laser frequency conversion, including CO and CO₂ laser frequency doubling and mid- and far-infrared generation by optical parametric oscillation. The low dispersion and high damage threshold of BGGSe provide advantages for ultrabroadband frequency mixing and ultrashort-pulse output.
