Key Features

Barium nitrate (Ba(NO₃)₂) has the highest Raman gain coefficient, which directly determines the Raman laser threshold. Its thermal lensing is therefore pronounced, with a large refractive-index temperature coefficient (∂n/∂T) and low thermal conductivity. KGW has much weaker thermal effects and a high damage threshold, making it suitable for power scaling. For Raman applications with nanosecond and longer pulses, Ba(NO₃)₂ is more suitable; for shorter pulses, KGW has advantages.
