Applications
1. Acousto-optic modulators: In laser-processing and optical-communication systems, TeO₂ is a core material for high-figure-of-merit modulators. Its high acousto-optic figure of merit and low drive-power requirement enable rapid laser-intensity modulation at frequencies up to hundreds of MHz, supporting laser printing, material processing and fiber communications. 2. Acousto-optic deflectors: In laser-scanning and optical-storage equipment, high deflection efficiency and broad bandwidth enable fast, precise beam deflection, playing key roles in laser displays, remote sensing and optical data processing. 1. Acousto-optic Q-switches: In pulsed lasers, TeO₂ serves as the core element of high-frequency Q-switches. Its high figure of merit and damage threshold support high-repetition-rate pulses, up to hundreds of kHz, with high peak power for laser medicine, research and industrial processing. 2. Laser frequency conversion: As a host material for Raman frequency shifters, its nonlinear properties convert and extend laser frequencies for spectroscopy and lidar. 1. Optical signal processing: In microwave photonics and optical computing, TeO₂ enables real-time spectral analysis and filtering through acousto-optic interaction, with important applications in radar and communication networks. 2. Spectral analysis: Integrated into acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTFs), its broad tuning range and high spectral resolution enable fast wavelength selection for multispectral imaging and chemical analysis.
