Prism
A pentaprism is one of the fixed-angle (90) beam deflectors. Regardless of the angle of incidence on the first face, the outgoing light turns the incident light by a certain angle (90); unlike a right-angle prism, the image formed is neither rotated nor mirror-reflected. A right-angle prism is usually used to bend the optical path or to deflect the image formed by an optical system by 90; depending on the orientation of the prism, the image can be left-right consistent but top-bottom inverted, or left-right inconsistent but top-bottom consistent.
