right-angle prism
Right-angle prisms are usually used to fold the optical path or deflect the image formed by an optical system by 90°. Depending on the prism orientation, the image can be left-right consistent and top-bottom inverted, or left-right inverted and top-bottom consistent. With a large contact area and typical angles such as 45° and 90°, they are easier to mount and offer better stability and strength against mechanical stress.
