1064 Ceilometer ATOM-YGY-1064-15K
Zhongke Yuanzi's laser ceilometer uses single-photon counting. It emits light pulses into the atmosphere, where aerosols and air molecules produce backscatter. Analysis of backscattered signal time of flight and intensity provides cloud height and other properties. Meteorological and aviation applications include measuring cloud height and vertical visibility. The ATOM-YGY-1064-15K laser ceilometer is based on atmospheric scattering theory and lidar principles. It sends laser pulses through the atmosphere to the cloud base and uses the return time of cloud backscatter and the speed of light to calculate cloud-base height, cloud thickness and other information. A strong backscatter signal occurs at the cloud boundary. Its magnitude depends on laser power, cloud-base height, cloud type, atmospheric properties and lidar performance. Received backscatter generally weakens as detection distance increases. Changes in laser echoes identify the cloud base and its height. If backscatter from haze, fog, mist, virga or precipitation obscures the cloud base, the ATOM-YGY-1064-15K reports vertical visibility.
