Flared opening MCP
Conventional microchannel plates have an open-area ratio of approximately 60%. Flared microchannel plates are made by widening the input openings of conventional microchannels, raising the input-face open-area ratio above 90%. Compared with conventional plates, this reduces electron scattering at the end face and improves detection efficiency.
