Dense 96-Wavelength Multiplexing/Demultiplexing Equipment
DWDM combines information-bearing optical signals of different wavelengths into one beam for transmission along a single fiber, then separates them at the receiving end. Multiple signals travel simultaneously, each on its own wavelength channel. A multiplexer combines compliant DWDM signals into 1 fiber at the central office, and the remote end separates them to perform multiplexing/demultiplexing. Compared with single-channel systems, dense WDM greatly increases network capacity, fully uses fiber bandwidth, simplifies expansion and provides reliable performance. Direct access for multiple service types gives it strong application prospects.
