Wavelength Division Multiplexing Detector (WDM PD)
A wavelength division multiplexing detector (WDM PD) is a device that separates wavelengths while simultaneously converting transmitted optical signals into electrical signals. A photodiode (PD) operates under reverse voltage; when there is no light, the reverse current is extremely weak, called dark current; when there is light, the reverse current rapidly increases to tens of microamperes, called photocurrent. The greater the light intensity, the greater the reverse current. Changes in light cause changes in the photodiode current, which can convert optical signals into electrical signals, making it a photoelectric sensor device.
