Application background; cable search + cable failure positioning (detection) with the implementation of the “broadband China” strategy; fibre-optic communication has become widespread; fibre-optic cables have spread throughout every city of the country. However, cables are mostly laid underground or in the air; the maintenance and management of big cables is a challenge. Especially when ageing, natural destruction or man-made damage causes optical cable failure; would seriously interfere with the effective functioning of the information society; and would affect information security. So rapid routing and location of malfunctions; recovery and repair in the shortest possible time becomes essential. Because of the speciality of cable laying; the length and actual geographical distance of the cable are different; when the cable malfunctions; and the length of the cable can only be measured by OTDR without informing the geographical location of the fault. Even if the fault cable can be found on the market ' s census machine, the location of the fault will take a lot of time and effort. The LFD cable failure locator; also known as the cable failure tracker; in addition to having the function of cable surveyor (otherwise, cable surveyor, cable caller, cable checker); and the function of cable failure locator. The function is to detect the location of external disturbance signals based on the double-reflective effect of fibre-optics; thus, the location and location of cable failure points is to be achieved. Engineers only have to perform undamaged disturbance of the cable; the instrument automatically detects the location of the disturbance point from the failure point; then gradually approaches the failure point and perform the same operation; then, after several tests, the fault location can be quickly located.
