Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) Sensor Crystal
The product shown is a Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) sensor crystal: a circular AT-cut quartz wafer with a precisely patterned metal electrode (typically gold) on the front side, featuring a wrap-around ring pattern with anchor contact pads, and a blank unpatterned back side. Mounted in a standard crystal sensor head, it oscillates at its resonance frequency; when material is deposited on its surface during vacuum coating, the added mass causes a proportional frequency shift, which is converted into deposition rate and film thickness by a QCM monitor or controller. It can also be used as a highly sensitive mass sensor for chemical and biological detection applications.
