A biconcave lens has two concave spherical surfaces and negative focal length, making it suitable for diverging a converging beam. Like a plano-concave lens, it diverges a collimated beam from a virtual focus, as in a beam expander. Coatings can be customized.

Cemented lenses minimize or eliminate chromatic aberration. Their achromatic design also helps minimize spherical aberration. Achromatic lenses suit applications such as fluorescence microscopy, image relays, inspection and spectroscopy. They are manufactured by cementing two or more elements together and can form smaller spots than singlet lenses.

A plano-convex lens has one plane surface and one convex surface. Applications include telescopes, sights, magnifiers, optical receivers and condenser lenses. Combined with other lenses, it can form an imaging system.

Aspheric mirrors offer distinct advantages in applications such as eliminating spherical aberration and single-element designs. Glitteroptic provides CNC precision-polished aspheric mirrors with excellent performance in surface quality, irregularity and focal-length deviation.
