FOIS-1 Fiber Optic Integrating Sphere The FOIS-1 Fiber Optic Integrating Sphere transmits light through a 9.5-mm input port and can perform scattering experiments—such as measuring the spectral characteristics of LEDs and other light sources. The FOIS-1 includes a 1.5" spectral sphere enclosed in an aluminum housing, receives light from 200-1100 nm through a 9.5-mm input port, and connects to the spectrometer through an SMA connector. The compact FOIS-1 has dimensions of 56.8 mm x Improved Operation The FOIS-1 is easy to operate. The user only needs to connect a fiber from the SMA 905 output end of the FOIS-1 to the SMA end of the spectrometer, and then insert the emission source into the 0.375" input port of the FOIS-1. The FOIS-1 can also be connected to the LED-PS power supply. The LED-PS can support an LED; it can turn it on and display the current. This allows the user to adjust the LED brightness by adjusting the current. Then the LED and LED-PS are connected to the FOIS-1 to measure the absolute spectral intensity of the LED. If you are using the FOIS-1 to measure the absolute spectral intensity of an LED or other emission source, you should consider the LS-1-CAL-INT. It uses a NIST standard light source to calibrate the spectral response of the radiometric system, using the FOIS-1 as a sampling device. It provides absolute intensity values at several wavelengths, expressed in mW/cm2/nm. The spectral intensity of the LS-1-CAL-INT is traceable to the intensity standards established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
