chalcogenide glass
Chalcogenide glass refers to amorphous materials formed by one or more non-oxygen chalcogen elements (S, Se, Te) plus other metallic or non-metallic elements. Compared with traditional oxide glass, chalcogenide glass has high transmittance in the far-infrared band (8~20μm), higher density, weaker bond strength, high linear refractive index, and a high nonlinear refractive index coefficient, about 100~10000 times that of quartz glass, and its two-phonon absorption in the communication band is negligible, making it a good candidate material for fast optical switches and communication signal regeneration.
