Calcium fluoride (CaF2) window (WIN4-202)
Calcium fluoride (CaF2) windows are highly valued for their broad transmission from the ultraviolet (190 nm) to the mid-infrared (8 μm), low dispersion (Abbe number 95), and low thermal expansion. Owing to their low refractive index (n≈1.43@10 μm), they perform excellently in UV lithography, infrared spectroscopy, and laser systems, and can be perfectly matched with high-refractive-index materials. They are chemically resistant and have a high laser damage threshold, and can be used as excimer laser (193 nm) windows, infrared lenses, and beamsplitters, but their moderate hardness (Mohs hardness 4) requires scratch protection.
