TPX lens
Materials with relatively good terahertz transmittance mainly include polymer materials and high-resistivity silicon. Among them, high-resistivity silicon has a high refractive index and is more suitable as a lens material. Among polymer materials, TPX has the best terahertz transmission performance, but optical-grade TPX is expensive because of its high shrinkage ratio during injection molding and low profile yield. At present, terahertz window materials generally use polytetrafluoroethylene, high-density polyethylene, TPX and high-resistivity silicon; these materials are also the main materials for terahertz lenses. There are many types of terahertz lenses; the common ones mainly include plano-convex aspheric lenses (most of Menlo's lenses are of this type at present), axicons (used to generate Bessel beams), spiral phase plates, cylindrical lenses, multi-hemispherical lenses, and Fresnel lenses used to reduce thickness. Terahertz lenses generally serve to collimate and focus in terahertz spectrometers and imagers, or are used in reverse.
