The RUG_LG series high-precision gimbal system is a high-dynamic 360° angular alignment system with a low profile height. Using a precision angular-contact bearing system with an extremely low sliding-friction coefficient, it provides accurate angular positioning, extremely low velocity ripple and high dynamic response. Directly driven by segmented coreless torque motors, it achieves control resolution up to 0.02 arc sec, positioning capability (steady-state error) better than ±0.08 arc sec, and settling time better than 25 ms. Special custom development for high/low-temperature and vacuum environments is available on request.

Overview

The RUG_LG series high-precision gimbal system is a high-dynamic 360° angular alignment system with a low profile height. Applications

Provides high-speed, accurate angular pointing and positioning for optical guidance, laser countermeasures, antennas, high-precision fast steering mirrors and sensor testing. Typical applications include missile seeker testing and calibration, forward-looking infrared detection of optoelectronic sensors, angular testing of inertial sensors such as gyroscopes, MEMS accelerometers, and gimbal/pod applications.

Segmented coreless torque motor direct drive with zero cogging; bi-directional repeatability better than 0.8 arc sec (ISO230-2); positioning accuracy <2 arc sec (ISO230-2); positioning capability (steady-state error) better than ±0.08 arc sec; excellent dynamic performance, reaching ±0.08 arc sec steady state within 25 ms; continuous 360° azimuth and elevation rotation with built-in slip ring design; accommodates loads up to 200 mm in diameter, with custom development available.
