Shanghai Langyan Optoelectronics' terahertz frequency-comb spectrometer uses two high-power femtosecond fiber lasers to produce optical combs. One excites a GaP crystal to generate a THz comb; the other detects it through a THz antenna. Asynchronous optical sampling enables rapid detection. Adjustable comb-tooth width, fast sampling, high SNR and stability suit biomolecule detection, structural measurement, physical-property identification and characterization of semiconductors and high-temperature superconductors.

Using the high output power and excellent high-frequency performance of a UTC-PD chip, the mixer module operates at frequencies up to 330GHz while providing high saturation output power.
